Now that it’s week 14 and you can definitely tell I ate too many donuts am pregnant, I decided to spoil myself and buy some new clothes – mainly maternity leggings due to the fact that my jeans now not only don’t button but also don’t zip and also the fact that I love shopping. Now, if you’ve never worn maternity leggings, I highly recommend booking it to the nearest maternity store and purchasing some asap – even if you’re not pregnant and never plan on it. Maternity leggings are quite possibly the best item of clothing ever invented. They are so soft, comfortable and warm its like living a cocoon. I might never take them off. Best discovery of pregnancy yet.

In addition to the lovely leggings I also bought maternity “jeggings” which is the closest I plan on coming to actual pants for the rest of my pregnancy. They have pockets and they aren’t see-through, even in fluorescent light, so I think they count as pants even though they are pretty much just more leggings. Whatever. I’m pregnant. I also bought one maternity shirt which probably won’t fit in a few months but it was so cute and on sale and they only had smalls left (DUH). I’m savoring the last few months of being able to fit into a small anything.
In addition to spending money I don’t have on maternity clothing, I also bought a Groupon for a local yoga studio and started prenatal yoga classes, which I have to admit are pretty great. It’s a nice community of pregnant people and it encouraging to see the people in the class who are like 15 months pregnant (that’s what it looks like anyway) that are still able to touch their toes. I’m remaining hopeful. It’s also really nice to just have an hour and half each week to chill out and nobody will judge you if you fall asleep.
In other non pregnancy related news, we finally fixed Harley’s electric fence (it was “broken” for a few months – i.e. we by accident turned off the shock setting) and now Harley gets shocked again if she tries to leave the yard and as a result she is terrified to go outside. It could also be the fact that it’s about 3 degrees here and Harley is from Texas and hates cold weather. Either way, not having to actually go outside with her on a leash at 11pm and 6am is pretty much wonderful.
So that’s all the news I can think of for now – according to my pregnancy book this week the baby goes from being the size of a lemon to the size of a naval orange, and he or she is developing kidneys and other stuff like that. Sounds like a lot of work I think I’m going to take a nap. And also here’s this week’s updated chart (hurray for being able to eat again!).
How far along? 14 Weeks
Total weight gain: -4lbs (still stuck here – despite eating like my normal self again. I guess I’ll take it I’m sure my day will come for packing on the pounds.)
Maternity clothes? woohoo yes! maternity leggings forever!
Stretch marks? thankfully not yet
Sleep: Fine for about 4 hrs at a time. Still can’t sleep through the night – it’s good preparation I guess.
Best moment this week: Putting on maternity leggings for the first time.
Miss Anything? Being able to suck my stomach in.
Movement: not yet – I keep trying to concentrate on feeling something but no luck yet.
Food cravings: Peanut butter cracker snacks. I bought a pack at the grocery store and opened them to start eating before I checked out. I am officially that annoying person that has half eaten items in the check out line.
Anything making you queasy or sick: If I go too long without eating.
Gender: won’t find out ’til February
Labor Signs: No
Symptoms: lots of heartburn and what I think is round ligament pain – ouch!
Belly Button in or out? in (but belly button ring is out, per doctor’s advice)
Wedding rings on or off? on
Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy
Looking forward to: Yoga tomorrow night and going on a girls ski/snowshoe weekend this Saturday!
