So last weekend I stayed up until midnight. I realize how absurd this sounds but that is actually the latest I’ve stayed up in at least 6 months. I am a pathetic loser. Even more pathetic is the fact that I legit felt hungover the next day due to being tired and drinking too many sugary shirley temples. But anyway, it was totally worth it and lots of fun to go out with a bunch of the girls from work. We went to a Hibachi grill for dinner, and then out to a bar at which point I looked around and thought – hmm – all the people in this bar either think I have a serious beer belly, or they think I’m pregnant in a bar. LOSE LOSE. Speaking of the little “beer” belly – here it is at 23 weeks.

Baby has been VERY active this week, which is fun and distracting. But she is still a little trickster and kicks like crazy until Dan comes over to feel her, at which point she promptly falls asleep. So since Dan wasn’t getting very many baby kicks this week, we occupied ourselves working on the nursery. While I watched a youtube video explaining how to install the mesh crib bumper I got (it’s WAY less intuitive than you might think) Dan went to Home Depot and had them match the paint color from the crib (yes, this literally required bringing an entire crib rail into Home Depot – we are crazy people), and then sanded, primed and painted the hand-me-down dresser/changing table my parents gave us. He also disassembled the twin bed we have in the nursery (another free hand-me-down from my boss – love free stuff!) and is preparing that to be painted as well. All this makes me very excited because you all know how much I like things to MATCH. (Before and After pictures to come next week….) Also last weekend Dan fixed our screen door and set up a dog run for Harley in the back yard (just until we have money to finish fencing it in). This is really awesome because it means I don’t have to go out in the snow every time Harley sees a squirrel and pretends to have to go pee. Here’s a pic of the little weasel going crazy like usual.

In other news this week – my parents are coming up this weekend for Easter which is fun, and next Tuesday my sister-in-law finds out if she’s having a boy or a girl – I think I’m as excited for her as I was for us when we found out. It just makes the whole thing so much more real. Also – my friend Margie is expecting her little Charlotte any day now (she’s 37 weeks and doc says she could go any day) and that makes me infinitely excited because I can’t wait to hold a little munchkin in my arms and start practicing!
Well that’s about all I can think of for this week – here’s the chart!
How far along? 23 Weeks
Total weight gain: 10lbs (officially feeling HEAVY – and yes I know, the worst is yet to come)
Maternity clothes? yep
Stretch marks? thankfully not yet
Sleep: eh
Best moment this week: getting the changing table/dresser painted
Miss Anything? running (I know, I can’t believe I said it but I actually do. I just feel too uncomfortable when I run these days)
Movement: lots
Food cravings: milk shakes, milk shakes and also milk shakes. Doing decently well with not indulging myself – hence the only 1lb weight gain this week
Anything making you queasy or sick: nope
Gender: It’s a girl!
Labor Signs: No but I did have what I think was a Braxton Hicks this weeks
Symptoms: still heartburn – is it true that means baby will have lots of hair?
Belly Button in or out? in (but belly button ring is out, per doctor’s advice)
Wedding rings on or off? on
Happy or Moody most of the time: Happy, busy
Looking forward to: Easter weekend and finding out the gender of baby girl’s cousin!
