Rain Rain Go Away

This week it rained every. single. day. Seriously. Every day. It really made the week fly by. NOT. The only good thing about days and days of rain is that it led up to a weekend with family – and even rain can’t ruin that. My aunt Marybeth, my cousin Alex and my mom all trekked up to Maine this weekend so they could stand outside in the rain. We made the best of it though (and by best of it I mean we spent a lot of time eating). Also my cousin Alex came up with the idea for this cute 32 week belly pic – Dan was psyched to be let off the “picture taking” hook this week.

We spent most of the weekend either eating or walking in the rain (which I guess is good since they kind of cancel each other out), and then finally on Monday the sun came out and Dan and I head up to Carol’s lake house for some sunbathing and grilling. Harley was being a total baby the whole time we were there, and only wanted to sit on people’s laps. I think she must subconsciously know her “45lb lap dog” days are coming to an end…

During the few and far between moments that Harley was distracted by something (ant trap, squirrel, blue jay, stray cat), Dan was able to use his “daddy skills” for more appropriate purposes, like keeping little Charlotte comfortable and entertained. Doesn’t he seem like a natural?!

Once we got home and Harley had Dan back to herself, she was VERY excited, as you can see below.

Annnnnd…I was finally able to catch her doing her morning ritual in the baby’s room (nudge the infant mobile, watch it swing, nudge it again, watch it swing, repeat). Like I said before, her cognitive skills are right on par with a newborn, so she is VERY entertained by all the baby equipment we’ve started to set up around the house.

Anyway there hasn’t been much other news this week since it was so rainy and boring. I’m feeling pretty much the same as last week – still hanging in there, getting a little bigger, fighting off heartburn and sore hips, and still loving my prenatal yoga classes. Baby is moving around lots, and put on a good little show for my mom and Alex – kicking and squirming all over the place making my stomach jump around like crazy. I can only hope she will be a little more chill once she comes out – in 8 weeks. Wait what?! Less than 2 months to go? Yep. Let the countdown begin (or continue…if you’ve already started counting down).

Here’s this week’s chart:

How far along? 32 weeks (8 weeks to go!)

Total weight gain: 23 lbs
Maternity clothes?  yep
Stretch marks? still not yet, fingers crossed
Sleep: heartburn+sore hips = no sleep
Best moment this week: eating nutella on ice cream (why didn’t I think of that before?!!)
Miss Anything? margaritas
Movement: lots and lots
Food cravings: nutella
Anything making you queasy or sick: not right now
Gender: It’s a girl!
Labor Signs: More braxton hicks, some pelvic pressure, and every once in a while a slightly painful contraction
Symptoms: heartburn and acid reflux
Belly Button in or out? Flat as a pancake
Wedding rings on or off? one on, one off – no swelling yet but I’m worried how I’ll fare as it gets hotter and hotter out
Happy or Moody most of the time: moody during the rain, happier now
Looking forward to: a short work week
